a statement from julie hanks-elliott

I have been asked by my dad Roy Hanks to  announce his retirement from Sidecar Racing. 

This has been one of the hardest decisions that he has had to make in his life and has not been taken lightly.   There have been many factors that have brought him to this decision. 

As well as thanking all his passengers over the years he would like to thank all his racing family, those that are no longer with us and those who he has raced against over the past 50 years. 

He has been blessed with a long racing career which has seen both highs and lows, but all good things must come to an end. 

He will still be involved in the racing scene in someway or another and is now looking forward to supporting his granddaughter Jamie in her solo career (dirty word ) which will quickly change to 3 wheels when she is old enough.  I therefore am keeping my leathers just in case Jamie needs a passenger in 3 years time. 

He would like to wish everyone a long and safe racing career and looks forward to seeing you in the TT paddock or elsewhere.
